Helen Veronica Snyder (née French), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, sister, friend, and faithful servant of God, entered eternal rest on June 4, 2026. She was surrounded by her large, loving family.

Born April 29, 1933, in Philadelphia, the daughter of John and Helen French.  Helen was raised with a deep and abiding Catholic faith. She loved her school days at Transfiguration Parish in West Philadelphia and graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls in 1952.

Known affectionately as “Honey”, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Robert Snyder, on April 24, 1954. Honey and Robert were married for 59 years before his passing in 2013.  Together they were blessed with 14 children, 36 grandchildren, and 16 great‑grandchildren, each one welcomed into Honey’s loving arms and cherished beyond measure. Family was her greatest joy and the love she instilled is what sustained her through her long goodbye.

Honey loved the beach, reading great novels, crossword puzzles, outings with her girlfriends, Boscov’s licorice candy, and her morning coffee.

As a member of Saint Matthias Parish for the past 54 years, Honey enjoyed attending Sunday Mass, serving as a Eucharistic Minister with Robert, and kindergarten teacher aide when her children attended the parish school. She cherished the many friends she and Robert came to know and love from St. Mathias.

Honey lived a life of service to others without fanfare or fuss; her quiet humility, quick wit, and unbelievable patience colored every interaction. She was a volunteer at the Contact Crisis Center helping those in crisis who needed compassion and not judgement. Her gentle spirit always putting those she encountered at ease. Her family takes great comfort in knowing she is finally at peace in the loving arms of her Savior and reunited with Robert.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert, cherished granddaughter Hannah Joy, siblings Jack and Isabel French, Beatty and Marty Tyska, Smitty and Frannie French, Georgianna and Jim Gilfillan, and in-laws and dear friends, Joan and Joe Schnatterer.

Honey is survived by her devoted children:

Robert (Renie), Mark (Pam), Helen/Missy Taggart (Peter), Patricia Farhat (Moses), Paul, Stephen (Mary), David (Debbie), Maureen (Dan Grosser), Andrew (Dawn), Bernadette Bartholomew (Bob), Susan Fard (Kiyoumars), John (Donna), Dorothy (Karen Knapp) Catherine Rojas (Angel). She is also lovingly remembered by her 36 devoted grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 128 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA on Wednesday, June 10th from 9:00 AM – 10:45 AM. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
