It is with a heavy heart that I write this message because I always thought I would meet Rob again and have a pint and chat about the past. I met Rob when he set up the Connor Winfield plant in Shannon in 2000. He was a wonderful leader a loyal and sympathetic co-worker and we had five great years together. Roe, I am so sorry for your loss and it is incomprehensible to me that such a young man was taken so early. Please accept our condolences and we send our love to you Catherine Aiden and Bobby, we will not see his like again. Pat & Breda Doran Ennis Co. Clare

Meghan Kelly left a message on March 20, 2024:
I had the pleasure of working with Rob at my time at Select Greater Philadelphia (2015-21). He was a trusted colleague; I knew I could turn to him for advice or support whenever it came to Irish business attraction in Philadelphia. It was evident that he was passionate about forging connections between the Philadelphia and Irish business communities. It was fun to strategize with him about this because he had creative ideas and an entrepreneurial spirit. I recall during our last meeting he mentioned a cancer scare; I was impressed that he was facing it gallantly and we struck an optimistic chord at the end of our conversation. I am so sad to hear about what he encountered since that day, and ultimately, about his passing. His obituary confirms what he always seemed to me to be professionally - a genuinely kind, energetic and selfless person. I am so sorry for his family, colleagues and friends who will miss him so dearly. May you always keep his spirit alive.

Sending my condolences to the Rae family. I worked with Rob for 3 years and can honestly say it was an honour to know him. We talked family… always his priority, talked work and had some laughs along the way. We met on his recent visit to Ireland and caught up socially. Glad we did. Rob would give us all a lesson in strength and positivity as he battled his illness for the last number of years. Rob will be missed by all who knew him, personally and professionally. A great ambassador for the work he did promoting Irish companies States Thoughts and prayers with Roe, Catherine, Bobbie, Aidan and extended family at this difficult time Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

My daughter Caley is friends with Rob’s daughter Cat at Temple. When i was diagnosed with cancer Rob reached out to me and offered his experience and support which i very much appreciate. I would see him at volleyball tournaments and he always had a huge smile on his face and would ask how my treatment was going. He would text me periodically to check on me and offer encouragement. His actions spoke volumes about his enormous kindness and selfless concern for others. May he rest in peace.

A group of us arrived in Philadelphia from Ireland, the year before Covid, to spend a week on the road with Rob as our leader, meeting many companies between Philly and NYC that he’d lined up. Rob presented each of us with an umbrella on day 1, “it really rains in Philadelphia just like Ireland” he announced to our surprise. I have that umbrella in my bag to this day, a reminder of a special week with Rob, someone who minded people, selfless, modest and a gentle man who put others before himself. You’ll be missed by all who had the good fortune to know you. Sincere condolences to Rob’s family. Slán Gary
