Crystal clear is the first memory I have from a life lived next door to beloved Shirley. I was 10 years old in the Spring of 1972. I can still feel the sunshine that surrounded us as my mother and I sat with our new neighbors Shirley and Bernie Sr. on lawn chairs in their backyard. Next to me, sitting on Shirley’s lap, was a 6 month old baby, Bernie Jr. It was the beginning of 53 sweet and wonderful years together that became a lifelong friendship that felt more like family. And leaves behind a lifetime of happy memories.

My Dear Friend Shirley, Today, 9/13, your family and friends honor you. I will very much miss you. In over 50 years we have done a lot together. I will miss our daily phone talks. Now it will be our prayer talks. You will always be remembered, Margie
Lisa Deihl left a message on September 8, 2025:
I, Lisa Deihl, her. Niece, loved Aunt Shirley for her wonderful sense of humor. She always found a way to enjoy life no matter what her circumstances. She always brought the family together for Christmas at Charlotte’s restaurant and stated that we should be together for the holidays. She will never be forgotten. I love you Aunt Shirley and I hope you are with Uncle Bernie and happy again. You were the best and you will be missed.
