Billy & Family, Many fond memories running the streets in the Village with you Bill. Not to mention our Bulldog Days. I've a scar on my left pinky that reminds me of your mother. There's an intro to a story, huh! Ties that bind, scars that bond, etc. Years ago in our early teenage years, I delivered the Delaware County Daily Times & Town Talk on Kent Rd. You may recall, across the street from your house, that end row home with the big yard where Kent & Taylor driveway meet. Roaming there a big, I used to think of it as, "Shaggy DA Dog". Never had problems with that dog. Until that one day, your mom was taking in groceries and he jumped on her and knocked her down. You poor mother never saw him coming. Knocked her to the ground, she screamed bags went flying, he was on her and wouldn't get off. I happened to be right there, on my paper route, guess I thought I knew poocher better than he knew me, so I grabbed him from the collar. He took a big chomp on my hand. Then your mom went all "momma bear" on kicked him off me. Big bonding moment brother. Dog took off. Your mother ran and got me a towel to wrap my bleeding hand. Wanted to take me to my home. Kept saying she was sorry like it was her fought. So full of concern and compassion. Crazy moment. We both were a bit traumatized. She was such...a mother so caring. Always there looking out for us daredevil maniacs rolling the Village. She would always ask me how I was after that...bonding moment. Like years later, I'd drive down Kent and she'd wave. Great lady Billy. So sorry for your loss. RIP Mamma Bear! ~ Paul Sharp, Family Friend
