Alfred M Zambon, age 86, of SW Phladelphia, died at Vistas Hospice on December 2, 2007. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather.
Born February 11, 1921 in Cavasso Novo, Italy, he came to the United States at the age of 17. He worked as a laborer in the tile and terrazzo trade before starting his own business in 1945. He retired in 1980 and enjoyed gardening and solving problems with homemade inventions and repairs. He grew record size vegetables and was entered into the 1987 Burpee see catalog for growing a 12 pound cauliflower. He bred German Shepherd dogs for 10 years, enjoyed music and built his own boat for use on the lake.
Mr. Zambon is survived by his wife, Caroline M. nee Tonelli of 64 years; his children, Alfred F. Susan and Robert Madeline; his grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Rober, Gina and Mark and his great-grandchild, Avery.
