Clement Leonard Cella (June 29, 1937-December 24, 2023) passed away peacefully at Lankenau Hospital as a result of severe injuries suffered in a pedestrian auto accident on December 23.
Len, a lifelong resident of Broomall, PA, graduated from Marple-Newtown High School in 1955. He was inducted into the school’s athletic hall of fame, having earned letters in three sports while there.
Following high school, he served in the Army for 18 months and was stationed in Japan. Upon his return, he studied architecture at both Villanova and Penn, and his creative mind led him into the field of movie producing, specifically as the creator of “Silly Cinemas’, and “Moron Movies” which later landed him as a nightly feature on the “Johnny Carson Tonight Show “and “TV Bloopers and Practical Jokes.” He has many fans throughout the world and loved to make people laugh.
Prior to that, as a sportswriter, he authored “Through Len’s Lens”, a weekly sports analysis commentary which appeared in the Upper Darby News, now the News of Delaware County.
Len is survived by a brother, Robert, of West Chester, PA. And a daughter, Lana, of Denver, Colorado. Funeral arrangements were private at his request.
