Concetta “Dede” Bruno, 94, of Yeadon, PA passed away peacefully at home on November 28th 2023.
Dede had a long and full life devoted to her Catholic faith, large family, and many friends and neighbors. Born in Philadelphia, she is predeceased by her parents, Donato “Lillian” (nee Mingone), Pasquale Bruno, and her siblings, Vincent, Pasquale “Sonny,” Gloria Parkhill, Rosemarie Nowrey, niece “Kimmie” Parkhill, and great nephew Eric Yaeger. She is survived by her brother-in-law George Nowrey and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Betty) Bruno who were a great help to her in countless ways, her beloved 13 nieces and nephews many of whom provided companionship and comfort, and many great nieces and nephews who were dear to her. Her quality of life was also made better by the many caregivers, especially “Binny,” who devoted their time and compassion to her care in her last years.
Despite a life-long disability, Dede was fiercely independent and worked as a bookkeeper till age 50. She was known for her beautiful handwriting, pizzelles, and love of chatting on the phone. Dede was the historian of the family and loved to recount stories of the good old days. Her memory was fantastic and she never missed sending a card, recognizing a birthday or special occasion. She was also an avid Phillies fan and was an expert at crocheting, having lovingly made many beautiful blankets for family and friends that are a lasting treasure.
Relatives & friends are invited to the church for visitation Saturday, December 9th 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM followed by her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at Blessed Virgin Mary Church 1101 Main St, Darby, PA 19023. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
