It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Concetta “Connie” Patricia Liciardello-Scully, aged 86, on August 14, 2024.
Born on January 5, 1938, in Philadelphia, mom’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and selflessness. She dedicated herself to her family, always placing their needs above her own and creating a home filled with warmth, joy, and laughter. As a compassionate nurse, Connie also dedicated her life to caring for others. After raising her four boys, Connie returned to school achieving her RN at St. Agnes Hospital where she served tirelessly in their burn center for 7 years. Connie continued her education in an accelerated program at Neuman University and attained both her BSN and thereafter an MSN. Throughout her 40-year nursing career, which was cut short by MS, Connie touched countless lives with her kindness, skill, and dedication. Connie was also on the forefront of the innovation of what is now known as “Medivac.” Mom volunteered to be a part of a Go Team riding in a “Mash-like” helicopter to help quickly triage and hopefully save the critically injured. Her work was not just a profession but a calling, and she was known for her gentle touch and unwavering commitment to the well-being of her patients.
Predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Edith (Silvagni) Valinoto, brother Thomas Valinoto, spouse Joseph (Bo) J. Liciardello Sr. and Paul Scully, Connie was a beloved mother, grandmother (Gram), great-grandmother (Gigi), and friend. She is survived by her 4 children: Joseph, Marc, Steven and Michael, 7 grandchildren: Stefani, Jennifer, Kristine, Michele, Marc, Michael and Joseph, and 12 great-grandchildren with another on the way: Damien, Joe, Juda, Layla, Sam, Ben, Josh, Scarlett, Grace, Shea, Brian, Brayden. Her legacy of love, care, and strength will live on through them.
Beyond her passion as a mother and next her nursing career, mom was a woman of great catholic faith where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to her community. Connie was not only at mass every day at 6am but also at rosary before the mass and then worked 8 to 16 hours nursing and caring for others.
A private ceremony is being planned according to her wishes. The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Connie’s memory may consider donating to The MS Society, in recognition of her lifelong commitment to caring for others.
There was no sweeter person on this earth than Connie who will be remembered for her boundless compassion, dedication to her family and patients, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Connie will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever be a source of inspiration, and the great memories a source of joy and comfort.
