Cora began her journey of service to others as a dedicated nurse at the Crozer Hospital ER. Cora cared for others with a gentle hand and open heart. Even after her career, she continued to uplift her community through countless volunteer activities, especially as President of the Charty, Saint Vincent DePaul. For Cora, no matter how busy she was, there was no call she wouldn’t answer and no person she wouldn’t listen to. When Cora wasn’t busy helping others, Cora loved taking trips to the mountains to ski, travelling to Europe, and across the globe with her husband, kids and relatives. One thing Cora loved above all else was spending time with her family and friends at her shore house in Ventnor, New Jersey. Although she didn’t have grandkids of her own, Cora loved all the visiting kids the same, making sure they put on their sunblock, had great snacks on the beach,and went to bed on time. Cora Hunter was a woman whose life was defined by kindness, compassion, and love. Cora will be remembered for her contagious laughter and her warmth that touched so many. Her legacy of love and generosity lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. Forever loved, forever missed.

Predeceased by her father, Jacob Merkel, and her sister, Alice.

Survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Hunter her sons, Kevin Hunter and Thomas Gregory Hunter, and her sisters, Mae Rhoades and Marie Van Gundy; relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing. Cora was an exceptional nurse, wife, mother and friend. She had a delightful and sparkling way about her. I enjoyed every opportunity that I got to be with her. My heartfelt condolences go out to Tom and her boys. And also to her posse of nurse friends from Crozer. She was an integral part of that group of close friends. She will be sorely missed.

We offer our condolences to Tom, Tommy, Kevin and all of her relatives and friends. As we pay homage today for a great friend are hearts are filled with sorry over the loss of such a wonderful person. Let us remember that those who have passed before her are waiting to welcome her with open arms as Cora's journey continues. Best wishes Cora as your journey continue.

Dear Tommy and Erika, I am so sorry about the passing of Cora. Even if I only met her a couple of times I will always rember her for being so kind and nice. Sending my deepest condolences to you and your family.

Cora was like the sunrise over the ocean on a crisp autumn morning. Her sunny disposition replaced darkness with light and her kindness and warmth could remove the chill in the air. In the span of over 50 years of friendship she was steadfast in her love of life, her family and friends, and served her community in too numerous ways to mention. Her light shines on for those left behind providing the strength and courage to move forward even as we mourn her loss.

I will so miss my sister . Though we lived far apart she was always in my heart. I have happy memories of our visits and travels together. Our brother Fritz Merkle and sister Loretta Robertoy preceded her along with our mother Helen in death.

Sending sympathy and love to all at this time. Cora was a close friend of Aaron's Mother, Sheila Ortega. She felt like an extension of our family, attending Wedding Showers, Baby Showers, and sharing Holiday cards with us - always celebrating those around her. Cora's love will be felt throughout the community for years to come. Our condolences, Aaron, Kelly, Olivia, Ava, and Jackson.

Sending my deepest sympathies for Cora’s family. I loved getting to know her at the Door County reunions in recent years and am grateful to have met her! Thanks for being such a bright soul in this world!

We are saddened by the loss of our good and kind friend, Cora. We spent many memorable years on Ventnors beach watching our children growing up in a carefree summer environment. Our sympathies to Tom and to his sons. While Cora is gone, our memories are forever.

Words cannot express how saddened I am by the passing of my dear friend Cora. She will be missed in so many ways. She always went the extra mile to help our neighbors in need. We enjoyed many shows and outings together. I know we’ll meet again with the Lord hopefully someday.
