DELUCCA
Deacon Daniel DeLucca, age 93, on June 5, 2025, of Drexel Hill, PA. Daniel was born in Hazleton, PA. Daniel started his twenty-two year career at Saint Jospeh’s University as a faculty member, department chairman, assistant to the president and vice president. He directed the University’s 125th anniversary celebration which featured Princess Grace of Monaco. Daniel then became president of Spring Garden College in Philadelphia for thirteen years. He next became president of Alvernia University in Reading, PA serving for seven years.
Deacon DeLucca was a long serving member of the Board of Trustees at Neumann University. He also served on the Advisory Board for the Pedro Arrupe Center for Business Ethics at Saint Joseph’s University. He was a past board member of Malvern Retreat House and Holy Child Academy.
Deacon DeLucca was ordained a permanent deacon in 1986 for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He served at Saint Andrew the Apostle parish in Drexel Hill, PA. He served the Archdiocese of Philadelphia as the clergy coordinator for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs for the Delaware County Vicariate. He was an Adjunct Professor of Homiletics at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. Among his many accomplishments as deacon, he officiated at his four sons’ and granddaughter’s weddings. He baptized his nine grandchildren and great granddaughter.
In 2003, Deacon DeLucca was awarded the Papal Cross: Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice for his service to the Church.
Deacon DeLucca has produced and moderated radio and television shows; is the Lindback Award recipient for distinguished teaching; and was awarded the Rev. Joseph S. Hogan, S.J. award of the Saint Joseph’s Alumni Association. He authored or co-authored several books on business ethics. In retirement, he returned to Saint Joseph’s University
as an Adjunct Professor of Management and Business Ethics in the MBA program, for which he received an Excellence in Teaching award.
He had a Bachelor’s degree from Saint Bonaventure University, a Master’s of Business Administration from New York University, a Doctor of Humane Letters from Saint Joseph’s University, a Doctor of Pedagogy from Saint Bonaventure University and a Doctor of Laws from Neumann University.
He missed his beloved Peggy. They were married for 56 years. He loved spending time with his sons and their families, especially gathering for dinners out. He enjoyed baseball and music. He played the accordion. Growing up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, he was a Yankees fan. After moving to the Philadelphia area in 1955, he became a Phillies fan as well and was a Saint Joseph’s basketball fan.
Predeceased by his wife, Margaret (nee Quinn) DeLucca, his parents, Anella (nee Ottadi) and Donato DeLucca, and his five siblings.
Survived by his four sons, Daniel N. DeLucca, John F. (Catherine), Paul T. (Lori), and Christopher P. (Nicole); his nine grandchildren, Neil (Kimberly), John, Jr., Jacqueline Trickey (Cody), Gabrielle, Allison, Sophia, Audrey, Andrea, and Olivia; and his great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Grace.
Relatives & friends are invited to his Viewing Thursday evening, June 12th 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the DAnjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008 and Friday, June 13th 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM followed by his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM ALL IN CHURCH at St. Andrew the Apostle 3500 School Ln, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
