Doris Eby D’Innocenzo, 97, passed away on April 11, 2026. She will be remembered as the feistiest of women who loved her family and friends fiercely.
Doris was born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, on June 30, 1928, to the late Charles and Mary Agnes (Meyers) Eby. On December 27, 1952, she married the love of her life, Louis Philip D’Innocenzo, who preceded her in death.
Doris graduated from Coatesville High School, where she played hockey and basketball and was a member of the cheerleading squad. She later earned a degree in physical education from West Chester University.
Throughout her life, Doris devoted herself to helping others. She worked as a health and physical education teacher and coached women’s tennis, field hockey, and basketball at St. Katherine’s of Sienna and at Villa Maria Academy. In her spare time, she refereed countless women’s high school and college basketball games. Doris was committed to helping young women become the best athletes and people they could be, firmly believing that the women she mentored could do anything they set their minds to. In recognition of her dedication to women’s sports and leadership development, she was inducted into the Villa Maria Academy Hall of Fame in 2016.
Later in her career, Doris served as a legislative aide for the 167th Pennsylvania House District until the age of 80. She found deep meaning in helping community members navigate challenges and ensuring their voices were heard.
Doris is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law: Helen Cashman (Bob) of West Chester, Pennsylvania; Ann Anderson (Clyde) of West Chester, Pennsylvania; and Mary Pat Kang (Ed) of Superior, Colorado. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa Hall (Dan) of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Nicole Cashman of West Chester, Pennsylvania; Ian Kang of Phoenix, Arizona; and Jade Kang of Superior, Colorado; and by her great-granddaughter, Elliott Hall, of Allentown, Pennsylvania.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her grandson, Brian Cashman; her brother, Richard J. Eby and his wife, Patricia (nee Donovan); and her sisters-in-law and their husbands: Mary DeYenno (Isidore), Julia Lago (Vincent), Rose DeLucia (Michael), and Phillis Weidenhammer (Hank).
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation, Monday, April 20th, 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM ALL IN CHURCH at Saint Monica Church, 63 Main Ave, Berwyn, PA 19312. Inurnment will be at St. Monica’s Cemetery in Berwyn, Pennsylvania.
