I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. D's passing. She was my first gym teacher at Villa Maria Academy. I rode the bus #2 with her daughters. I can still picture her in her glasses running along side us as she taught us basketball or hockey. She was a very sweet woman. She has left a legacy a mile long. Please accept my deepest sympathy and treasure your memories of this iconic Villa legend.

Mrs. D was a great woman who did it all… wife, mother, teacher, coach, official and friend to so many. We all wanted to be Mrs. D when we grew up! I went to WCU because of her advice and followed in her footsteps. I am sorry I didn’t see her in her later years. Love to Helen, Ann and Mary Pat… you had wonderful parents.

Mrs D inspired me to achieve and succeed at hockey at the Villa. Her encouragement and friendship as a “fellow Berwyn-er” helped to make my high school years, happy ones. I’m delighted to read that her family enjoyed her spirit for such a long time. I will remember her in my prayer and I want to express my condolences to her daughters and their families.

Mrs. D was a great role model as a working mom in the days there were not a lot of working moms. She was a happy coach who also modeled how to be a gracious athlete, win or lose —Saint Peter might greet her fittingly with one of her phrases:” well done,” Mrs. D! May she rest in peace, and my sympathies to her daughters and their families.

Mrs. D was my inspiration for my future in 1965. Because of her, I attended WCU and became a Health and Physical Education teacher. Her support and encouragement while teaching and coaching me showed me how blessed I was to know her. How fortunate to have known Mrs. D❤️
