Dorothy Estis, nee Montagnolo, of Newtown Square, passed away quietly on December 19, 2024, at the age of 97.
She taught first grade for 42 years at Russell elementary school in Broomall, PA. During her career she also earned her Master’s in Education. In 1968, she was awarded the Valley Forge Teachers Medal, from the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge. Many of her students still remember her fondly. (At least the well-behaved ones.)
Additionally, she enjoyed bird watching and swimming, achieving the 100-mile completion award at Dunwoody.
She was an extremely supportive mother and made a great chocolate cake.
She is survived by her son Monty Estis, grandsons Brad and Ian Estis, brother and sister-in-law Andrew and Ernestine Montagnolo, niece Frannie Montagnolo, and nephew Tony Montagnolo. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Estis, her parents Andrew Sr. and Bertha, and her brother Frank.
Relatives & friends are invited to her visitation, January 15th 10:30 am followed by her funeral service 11:00 am, at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery 199 Matsonford Rd, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
