It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dr. Cell U. Kim on November 16, 2025. He was born on July 27, 1942, in Gurye, South Korea. In 1968, he came to the United States on a scholarship to study Chemistry at Hampden-Sydney College and then Villanova University.
Throughout his life, he was a consummate student who loved God, medicine, science, philosophy, music, nature, and his family. Dr. Kim was the first Asian American physician to graduate from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in the class of 1977. He was one of the first rural health physicians in modern medicine, serving as a Medical Director in North Central Pennsylvania, where he delivered over 200 babies. He later worked as a Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine physician in the Harrisburg area, the Indian Health Service and Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma.
He enjoyed nature and found relaxation in planting trees and developing walking paths on his land. Throughout his life, he actively obeyed God by serving the church, community, and missions using his medical talents. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
Dr. Kim went to be with the Lord in his sleep while at home with his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Eunice; his son Dan (daughter-in-law, Young, and granddaughter Sammie); his son Chris (daughter-in-law Doe, grandson Matthew, and granddaughters Allison and Audrey); his daughter Johanna; and his daughter Tamy (son-in-law Sam and grandsons Cole and Rian), along with many loving friends.
