Edward J. Sullivan III

Edward J. Sullivan III passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at the age of 89, in Drexel Hill, formerly of Darby.

Ed was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Sullivan and a devoted father to Edward (Lauren), Robert (Heather), and Patricia Sullivan. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Edward, Kathryn, Madeline, Grace, Emma, Jacob, Daniel, Sean, Jack, and Roman, and his three great-grandchildren.

A man of deep faith, Ed was a longtime parishioner of Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Darby, where he and Pat raised their family. They both served as a Eucharistic Ministers and were actively involved in parish life. After moving to Drexel Hill, he became an member of Saint Dorothy Parish. His Catholic faith was central to his life, and he faithfully prayed the Rosary and Divine Office nearly every day.

Ed retired from Lankenau Hospital after many years in the Materials and Pharmacy Department where he made many lifelong friends. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman at Killeen Base at Fort Hood. He also served as a Chaplain’s assistant.

A proud Philadelphian, Ed also loved Philadelphia sports but especially the Eagles and was a long time season ticket holder. One of his favorite memories was appearing as an extra in the opening scene of the movie Invincible and wearing his out of place modern jersey in several other scenes.

Nothing brought him more joy than his family. He was always there for his children, never missing school events, sporting activities, or the moments that mattered most. He encouraged each of them to pursue the things they loved—a gift they would come to appreciate even more as they became parents themselves.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral on Saturday, August 8, at Saint Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
