WILLIAMS 1934~2020 Edward Joseph Sr. 86, of Maris Grove in Glen Mills, and longtime parishioner of St. John Chrysostom, died June 30 at his home.Born, reared and educated in Philadelphia, Mr. Williams resided in the city for 20 years. He lived on Long Island, New York for 15 years and in the Wallingford section of Nether Providence Township for 27 years before moving to Folsom 20 years ago. Finally settling in at Maris Grove.A 1952 graduate of West Catholic High School where he starred and was captain of the Burrs basketball team. Ed is also only one of three players in West Catholic’s illustrious basketball history to captain his team to both Philadelphia Catholic and City Championships. Ed then spent one year at North Carolina State on a basketball scholarship before joining the U.S Air Force. While in the Air Force Ed was trained to be an air traffic controller and married his high school sweetheart Alice Ann Lynn. After his four year stint, he began his career as an air traffic controller at Kennedy Airport in Queens, New York. Mr. Williams was instrumental in starting the union for the air traffic controllers known as (PATCO) Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization. Ed and Alice raised four sons and were pillars in their communities.Ed’s bride Alice of 48 years passed away suddenly in 2004. He found love for a second time with Florence Rice and married her at the age of 80. Florence and Ed traveled often and had a tremendous relationship. The Williams family is extremely grateful for her love and support.Mr. Williams was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.Mr. Williams was the husband of the late Alice Ann Williams, son of the late Jane Lindsay and brother of the late Betsy Lindsay.Survivors: his wife Florence Moisson Rice, his sons Edward (Christine), Robert (Mary Jo), John and James, his grandchildren, Eddie, Shane, Micaela, Ally, Missy, Aidan, Sammy, Samantha, 2 greatgrandchildren; Gracie and Joseph and his sister Kathryn Lindsay.Visitation: Tuesday, July 7th; 6-9 PM at the D’Anjolell-Barone Memorial Home of Wallingford, 908 S.
