Eric was my therapist for about 9 years. I have seen a number of different therapists on and off over the past 33 years, and he was the best I ever had. He helped me through so much, and was a smart, funny, insightful person, and someone who had an exceptional understanding of the nuances of autism. When I got the email on Monday informing me of his passing, I was shocked. Although our relationship was professional, I know I will personally miss him. My condolences to his family, friends, and other patients.

Eric was a good and kind man. He without fail made me feel invited when I was in his home. His reverence for decorum and decency can be detected when you interact with his two sons, in which he also instituted this reverence. I remember Eric’s smile. Earlier I said I felt invited to his home, but it was more than that. He had an eagerness to know what was on others’ minds and how they felt. Eric and Ruth’s invitation to attend an Easter service changed my life profoundly and for the better.
