I am so deeply saddened to hear of the loss of my dear sweet aunt Essie. I wish that I could be at her memorial service to honor her life and share some of the many fond memories. When I was a child it was always such an exciting time whenever our family would visit her home. To this day I have never met a more generous, warm and welcoming person. The moment we would step in the door, she would send her children out to the store to pick up soda, snacks and goodies for the nightlong party that would usually last into the wee hours of the morning! And all of her children were so much fun to be with. I have countless childhood memories at her home with her wonderful family that became a part of me growing up which I continue to cherish. Some of my favorite memories include playing army with my cousins Joseph, Regina, Cecilia, and John. Sometimes we would put on boxing gloves followed by wrestling matches and airgun marksmanship play. And there was always music. I especially enjoyed listening to my cousin Bernadette playing the piano. And I also remember (thank you Jennifer) about the dancing in the basement. Aunt Essie’s children were just like her, full of joy, laughter and a contagious energy and enthusiasm for life! She continues to live in all of you. I will pray for you and your families through this difficult time. God bless and rest in peace dear sweet aunt Essie.

Dear loved ones, It has been many years since I've seen you, but you are in my prayers for peace and comfort in your loss. Aunt Essie was such an important part of my childhood memories. I often remember frequent visits to her home. What fun our families had! I only found out this evening of Aunt Essies' passing, and I am unable to come for the viewing. Please know that the Philip Koury children in Virginia will hold Aunt Essie's memory dear. With love, your cousin Dee Koury Emery
