Estelle F. Ingenito

Estelle F. “Stella” Ingenito nee Fasolino of Havertown, PA, died on September 12, 2008 at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Born in Westerly, RI in 1919, Dr. Ingenito earned her A.B. from Connecticut College for Women in 1941; M.S. from University of Connecticut in 1944 and Ph.D. from Boston University School of Medicine in 1951. In addition to graduating with honors, she received additional special training from other schools of medicine including the University of Virginia, Yale, Tufts, Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania.

A Research Scientist in the field of Biochemistry, Stella worked for Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and Metropolitan Hospital in the Philadelphia area; the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Unversity of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School.

A recepient of awards and honors in her field, Dr. Ingenito was also the author of numerous research publications in the areas of hospital epidemiology, birth defects, heart disease, mental retardation, lead poisoning and drug addiction and alcoholism.

Although most of her life was devoted to her career, in her spare time, Stella enjoyed all types of reading, including novels and fiction.

She was the beloved wife of the late Francis E. “Frank” Ingenito and loving mother of Mark Ingenito and his wife, Heidi; devoted sister of Ludwig Fasolino, Beatrice Colonni, Evelyn Chmielecki and the late Theresa DeLeon and is also survived by her special niece, Sheila Tennyson Crowe, along with many other loving nieces and nephews.
