Fred Carbonara, Age 90, of Woodbine, NJ, formerly of Southwest Philadelphia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 19, 2024.
Fred served proudly as a Philadelphia Police Detective and later carried on his father’s legacy by taking over the family awning business after his retirement. Fred enjoyed spending time on his boat fishing and crabbing and spending time with his family.
Fred leaves behind his Beloved wife of 72 years, Joan Carbonara (nee Caputo). Devoted Father to Frederick (Terry), Michael (Barbara), Gina, Christopher (Sharon)
He was the beloved son of the late Frederic and Sadie Carbonara and cherished brother of Anthony and Alfonse (Nancy). He is predeceased by his sisters Mary, Florence, Antonette, and Sadie.
Fred was a proud grandfather to Joseph Dean Cummiskey, along with 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Fred’s life during his viewing and funeral on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 8:30 to 10:15 AM at the Danjolell-Stigale Memorial Home of Aston, 3260 Concord Road, Aston, PA. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM in the Main Chapel, with interment at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Fred’s memory through donations to St Jude Children’s Hospital or Wounded Warriors Project.
