Fred Carbonara, Age 90, of Woodbine, NJ, formerly of Southwest Philadelphia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 19, 2024.

Fred served proudly as a Philadelphia Police Detective and later carried on his father’s legacy by taking over the family awning business after his retirement. Fred enjoyed spending time on his boat fishing and crabbing and spending time with his family.

Fred leaves behind his Beloved wife of 72 years, Joan Carbonara (nee Caputo). Devoted Father to Frederick (Terry), Michael (Barbara), Gina, Christopher (Sharon)

He was the beloved son of the late Frederic and Sadie Carbonara and cherished brother of Anthony and Alfonse (Nancy). He is predeceased by his sisters Mary, Florence, Antonette, and Sadie.

Fred was a proud grandfather to Joseph Dean Cummiskey, along with 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Fred’s life during his viewing and funeral on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 8:30 to 10:15 AM at the Danjolell-Stigale Memorial Home of Aston, 3260 Concord Road, Aston, PA. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM in the Main Chapel, with interment at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

We miss you already! Everything changes, but now we have another guardian angel to look over us all. You were a great Father-in-Law and for that I say thank you for the memories and love you gave to us all! My dad (Rocky) has a pot of gravy waiting for you Pop!

The loss of my Uncle Freddy is still hard to accept. Uncle Freddy was close to my Mon and Dad. He was like my Dad’s “Other Brother”. He was always there if you needed help but if you wanted to help him he always tried to slip you some $. He will be missed so much. RIP ❤️

I woke up again this morning to realize my worse fear had come true. My Hero, my Pop, my Daddy has left this world. Even though I had you for 65 years it still wasn’t enough. I know how fortunate I was to have You, and for such a long Wonderful life, that only makes losing you that much harder. Your strength, courage, integrity and good heart has made me the best person I could be and I’ll be eternally grateful for you. Your inspiration, knowledge, patience & mostly fatherly love that you gave my Joey in raising him made him a better man! I haven’t been able & probably never will find anyone that comes close to you but that’s ok cause everyone else pales in comparison. Don’t worry about Mommy, we got her. Give everyone my love and take Anthony fishing I can not say goodbye only that I’ll see you in my drams & feel you in my heart until we’re together again. Love you Daddy xoxoxo

I had the privilege of knowing Fred Carbonara. Not as well as many of those who knew might have, but well enough to know that he was a good man that led a good life. My deepest condolences and sympathy.

Sending prayers to my family. You will be missed Uncle Freddy. Grateful I got to hear your voice when I was in Florida. I laughed so hard as always you know how to make anyone laugh. I pray for Aunt Joan and my cousins. ❤️
