Frederick “Smoke” Joseph Bartholf, Sr. 79, of Aston, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 3, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Smoke worked as a Material Handler for many years at General Chemical and retired as a Financial Administrator from Crozier Hospital. He was a proud Veteran and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS. Mississinewa from 1961-1964.
Smoke loved the outdoors and was an avid bowler, golfer, hunter, fisher, dog lover, and camper. He was one of the founders of Boy Scout Troop 495 and volunteered as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the past 6 years. His most recent hobby was Diamond Painting which he loved to frame and give to his family and friends. He loved to vacation in Sandbridge, VA each summer with his extended family and at Hawk Mountain with the Scouts for summer camp. Around the holiday season, you could find him and Maria visiting children of all ages and nursing homes as Santa and Mrs. Clause to spread some holiday cheer. His favorite activity by far was sitting around the table on Sundays with his family of 20 sharing stories and great food!
