WEIDENHAMMER George J. age 79, his family celebrates his life and is saddened by the loss of their loving husband, father and grandfather on Jan. 26, 2013. He was born in Berwyn, PA, son of Jenny Casey and Daniel Llewellyn Weidenhammer, Sr. He was preceded in death by his brothers Daniel Jr. and Henry. At thirteen he met the love of his life and future wife, Susan Ray Sigmund and later was the first college graduate in his family earning a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Drexel Institute of Technology. Rising to the challenges of his career, George took his family to live in numerous states and cities around the U.S. and on adventures around the world. He served the Presbyterian Church both as Deacon and Elder. After retiring George had time to tour with his 1924 Model T and cruise the Caribbean and Alaska with his beloved Sue. A devoted history buff he loved taking his family to battlefields and monuments, explaining their importance in great detail. George viewed life as one giant learning opportunity to be shared. His charming manner, warm smile and witty humor will be missed by many. In addition to his wife of 57 years he leaves behind his daughters Wendy and Linda Weidenhammer, grandson Khalid Weidenhammer Azeddagh, granddaughters Kara Lee Weidenhammer and Aryn LeQuire. Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service Thurs. 2 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church Wilmington, NC.
