Gerard L. Lafond

April 29, 1923 - May 9, 2014

LAFOND Gerard L., age 91 on May 9, 2014 of West Chester, PA. Gerry served as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He shared his love of God and music, singing in Saints Simon and Jude choir and the Sunshine Chorus. As brother, dad, “pepere” and friend, he touched the lives of all he encountered. He will be deeply missed. Husband of the late Therese M. (nee Demers), father of the late Peter B. and Daniel R. and brother of the late Sr. Cecile Lafond, S.S.J., Constance Plouffe, Estelle Frazier and Roger Lafond. Survived by his children Gerard L., Jr., Denise M. Mickalites, Paulette C. Nidel (Richard), Robert P. (Lee Helveston), David J. (Ann Wooding), James M. (Cheryl), Marie R. Allsman (Jess), and Terri Anne Sassa (Jay Mollure), his 19 grandchildren, his 17 great grandchildren, his brother Charles and his sister-in-law Claire Lafond. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday evening 7-9 P.M. at the D’ANJOLELL MEMORIAL HOME OF BROOMALL, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008 and Friday afternoon 2-2:45 P.M. at Saints Simon and Jude Church, 6 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382. Funeral mass will follow at 3 P.M.. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to Saints Simon and Jude Church, at the above address and to Heartland Hospice, 5 Christy Dr. #103, Chadds Ford, PA 19317 would be appreciated.

I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Lafond's passing. We think of you all often! and now I think of your parents together again, maybe sharing your Mom's chocolate chip cake in heaven.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Lafond. He was loved and admired by everyone whose life he touched.

My condolences to the entire Lafond family. I was fortunate to have met Gerry several times and found him to be a warm and gracious person. I was able to have several long, empathetic & meaningful conversations with him, and was left with the feeling that I knew him much better than our limited meetings would indicate. Perhaps this because I see him reflected in my friends David, Chelsea & Henri, as well as the other members of the family I have been lucky enought to have met. may you all find Peace & Solace in your memories of Gerry.

Gerry was a very important person in our lives. We love him and will miss him dearly. His influence helped many people and his love radiated to all around him. Rest in peace and enjoy the company of your dearest love.

Gerry Lafond will always live in my heart & memory as one of the dearest people, friends, relatives, and spirits I have ever known. We will miss him though we rejoice as he transcends to eternal life.

I will always remember my Uncle Gerry as one of the sweetest, kindest, most generous of human beings. My thoughts and prayers go out to the amazing family he created and left behind.
