I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to Hal’s family and friends. I’m an EJ Stewart alum who also would run into him at NFL Films. He was always a warm and kind gent. I remember him fondly.

John, my deepest condolences to you and your family. Hal was more then my boss but a warm friend. I started working for Hal before and during the fire and for years after at the old Peters stage .He gave me my start in the industry. He was someone you could trust . I will always be grateful to him and consider myself fortunate for having known him. Gather your family around you and share the joy of knowing a wonderful man.

The service for Hal was wonderful. I loved hearing the stories from his son and granddaughter. Even tho I've known Hal for a long time, it was priceless to hear the memories from his son's point of view. Hal was quite an amazing guy with a very full life. May he rest in peace.

Dearest Joan and Family, You have all been a part of our lives for so long: Caryl being roommates with Joan, meeting Hal, Caryl crying hysterically at your wedding because she was losing her roommate, while some thought she was an ex girlfriend of Hal's and all of our visits in NJ, PA, an NC. Hal was such a warm and caring man. We loved his sense of humor and his passion for his player piano and his trains. We particularly remember his joy when we visited the Train Museum in Wilmington when you visited us in North Carolina.. Although miles kept us apart, I still miss and love my roommate and love and miss her wonderful husband
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Hal I became friends around 1953, as neighbors in Drexel Hill. Especially model train friends. He had American Flyer and I had Lionel, which set the stage for lively “discussions.” My family moved away in 1957 but I attended Hal’s Bar Mitzvah in February, 1958, where I sat next to him. That was the last time I saw Hal until 1998 when I tracked him down through the model train group directory. Our friendship picked right back up after that 40-year pause. We enjoyed countless lunches and visits every time I visited my family in nearby King of Prussia from my Colorado home. Hal and Joan visited with me some years ago in Colorado, which included a stop at a railroad museum. Imagine that! I last saw Hal January 6 and I realized our 72-year friendship was coming to a close. But the memories will sustain it in perpetuity. Goodbye, my lifelong friend…….

I will miss Hal’s sweet disposition, his warm smile and his sense of humor. Though his absence leaves a void, our memory of him will be a blessing.

Hal had a wit so sharp it could cut through any moment, and his dry humor was nothing short of an art form. Whether it was a perfectly timed remark or a subtle expression that spoke volumes, he had a way of making people laugh without ever trying too hard—his brilliance was in the understatement. Beyond Hal’s humor, he carried himself with a quiet grace, facing life’s challenges with the same understated strength he brought to every room he walked into. While words can never fill the space he leaves behind, I hope the Lipman family finds comfort in the countless moments of laughter and love you all shared. Hal’s wit, his wisdom, and that unmistakable twinkle in his eye will live on in the stories and hearts of all who knew him.
