James Edward Bramwell, Jr. of Morton, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024 of natural causes. He was 63 years old.
Jim, or Jimmy as he was known by his wife, friends and neighbors was born on April 16, 1961 in Philadelphia to James and Mary Ann Bramwell and graduated from Swarthmore High School in 1980. Upon graduation he sought employment with the Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO). Initially he was employed in the mail room but after several years achieved his real goal in the electric department as a lineman. He rose through the ranks over the years and ended his career as a lead Trouble Man working from the Morton office location. If the lights ever went out in a storm you were lucky to know Jim. He was a tireless worker and retired after a 40-year career.
In 1997 Jim’s life changed when he met his future wife Debbie. Debbie, and her three children from a previous marriage, changed Jim’s life and gave him a true purpose. The children ranged from newborn to 4 years old. Jim was a great father to these children from the onset. Debbie and Jim were marriedsoon after and never looked back. Several years later Debbie and Jim were blessed with two sons. The five children (four boys and a girl) all attended and graduated from college which was a goal that Debbie and Jim held together. The children all have gone on to successful careers with several serving our country in the US Military. Some of the children are finishing up post graduate studies.
Jim was a very good athlete in high school. He was a standout on the football team and earned a varsity letter three times. In his senior year he was co-captain of the team. You did not want to be hit by Jim if you were carrying the ball. He also played varsity basketball and track and field.
Jim’s love of sports was passed down to his children who all played in high school with each achieving honors on and off the field. A division one baseball player, all-state offensive lineman, basketball, track and soccer standouts. Jim loved to attend the games with Debbie. On the weekends and nights, he was a huge fan of the Villanova Men’s basketball team and attended games from time to time with his brother Dave. Sunday in the fall was Eagles time and he never missed a game.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Debbie as well as his children and their spouses, Dan O’Neill (Kiley), Megan O’Neill (Sergio), Patrick O’Neill (Marissa), James Bramwell and Thomas Bramwell and one grandchild (Evelyn Grace). His parents, James and Mary Ann, and siblings Leslie, David (Tara) and Linda (John) also mourn for him. Jim was blessed with manynieces, nephews and grand nephews.
Services will be held at the Springfield Country Club on August 3rd with visitation beginning at 10:30 followed by services. The dress attire will be casual. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Providence Animal Shelter in Media, PA, an organization Jim felt strongly about.
