Jennie Warren was born November 19, 1926, in Benton, Pennsylvania and died April 30, 2025, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Jennie was an amazing 98 years old before being called to God.
Jennie grew up in the lovely Hamlet of Benton, PA with ten siblings.
Jennie and several of her friends formed a social club called the “Nut Club” that met for decades in Benton for reunions! Surviving members met within the last ten years! She was also a Charter member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. Jennie also assisted in starting a YMCA and held various positions. She was famous for teaching everyone to make pinecone wreaths for years in her basement.
Jennie trained as a nurse at Temple hospital in Philadelphia where she met her future husband William Warren who was a patient at the hospital. William started courting her and they were married on December 26th, 1948. They had four sons together that they raised in Paoli, PA. All of the sons are married and there are 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. William passed away in 2014 and Thomas, Jennie’s youngest son passed away in 2018. William was a doctor in the army, so they moved around the country working on assignment at several bases before settling in the Philadelphia area permanently. They purposely settled in Pennsylvania to be near both of their families. Waynesboro Golf Club was built adjacent to their property, so they joined, and it became a centerpiece of activity for Bill, Jennie, and the family.
Jennie was part of countless philanthropy and charity causes and selflessly gave of herself to those that were less fortunate. She was truly beloved for her Christian ethic and giving spirit by so many people! She loved her family dearly and her presence will be severely missed. She spent several of her last years at Wellington independent living where once again she volunteered and became a favorite part of the group. She is survived by John and his wife Carol, Jim and his wife Robbie, Mark and his wife Sharon, and Pixie, Tom’s widow plus the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Devon (Valley Forge and Conestoga Roads) on May 23, 2025, at 11:00 am. Following the brief service, everyone is invited to a social gathering at St. Luke.
