Joan was born and raised in Philadelphia and was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls, Class of 1951. In 1954, Joan met Nick, the love of her life, and they were happily married for over 62 years. Her world revolved around Nick and her family. Joan was the most loving mother that was devoted to her children and grandchildren; she was happiest when surrounded by all of them. Joan was an excellent homemaker, a wonderful cook, an avid reader, and she would crochet the most beautiful blankets for her family. Relatives and friends were always welcomed in Joan and Nick’s Havertown home and were treated like family. Her Catholic faith was important to her and she had a deep devotion to Padre Pio and the Blessed Mother. Joan had an exceptional singing voice and was a member of the St. Pius X Choir, but she is best known for her beautiful rendition of the song “Danny Boy”. Joan and Nick enjoyed many happy summers at their home in Avalon, NJ where the door was always open for friends and relatives to stop in for a good meal cooked by Joan and a glass of Nick’s homemade “vino”. They loved to travel the world and visited many places in the US, Europe, the Caribbean, South America, and South Pacific. In their later years, Joan and Nick were also “snowbirds” that spent winters in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, FL. They had many treasured friends and shared good times and laughs with them throughout the years. Joan and Nick adored each other, lived a beautiful life together, and now they are happily reunited in Heaven.
