Joanne Bozzi (nee Torre) passed away peacefully on March18, 2024, in Naples, FL, where she had wintered for more than thirty years, with her family at her bedside following a short illness. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on March 6,1940, Joanne lived her entire life in the Philadelphia area, attending St. Martin of Tours grammar school, graduating from Nazareth Academy, and earning her Associate degree in radiology from The Franklin School of Arts and Sciences. She worked for several years as an X-ray technician before her marriage to Nicholas Bozzi, her husband for sixty- one years. The Bozzi’s settled in Gladwyne, PA, where they raised their three sons, made many friends and enjoyed family life for over forty years.
The consummate wife and mother, Joanne’s objective and passion in life was her family. Her desire was to be the best wife and mother she could be. Her many friends and acquaintances would unanimously say she achieved that goal. Involved in every aspect of her sons’ activities, she could always be seen at any sports game, school, or other social function in which her boys were participating, and of course she did her share of whatever was required of parents to support those activities. She was quick to shift her passion to her six grandchildren. The consummate grandmother as well, Mom Mom, as she was called, was constantly in motion or providing advice: shopping queen, cooking pastina, no socks on stairs, no long hair in pool because it could get stuck in drain, helmet and sneakers for bike rides, never have your head on same level as a dog’s head.
And Joanne found time to help others and to participate in charitable endeavors. Wherever a helping hand was needed, Joanne was there. She served for many years on the Ladies Auxiliary Board of Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia and remained an honorary member till her passing.
Joanne was easy to get to know and easier to get to like. She had an unexplainable magnetism for those that knew her or whenever she met someone. Never boastful. Her conversation was never about herself but a caring and concern for the person to whom she was speaking. Loved by all. Her love for her family and others was boundless and will be missed greatly.
Joanne is survived by her husband Nicholas, her sons Gregory (Michele), Jeffery (Peggy Anne), Christopher, grandchildren Nicholas II (Kimberly), Allison, Jeffery, Jr., Anna, Michael, Emily, great-granddaughter Francesca, sister Elaine Dodszuweit, and special niece Diane Conroy. Predeceased by her parents John Torre and Rita Torre (nee Carrozza) and brother Jack Torre.
Relatives & friends are invited to her Visitation Friday, April 5th 9:15 AM – 10:45 AM followed by her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM ALL IN CHURCH at St. John Vianney Church 350 Conshohocken State Rd, Gladwyne, PA 19035. Interment Private.
