Joseph A., age 87, on October 23, 2025, of Drexel Hill, PA.
Joseph was a giant of a man, one of a kind, that lit up the room when he walked in. He was a smile maker and always kept the conversation interesting. Whether it was his kindness, willingness to pitch in to replace or repair a roof or his relentless ability to needle you endlessly until you cried uncle, he was in your presence colorfully. He thrived at Boeing-Vertol as a machinist from 1966 until he retired in 2001. He loved dancing, DJing for PWP, and traveling with Vi. He was an excellent woodturner of bowls and pens and was an unbelievable roofer. Roofing led to many other handyman skills, and he was described as a jack-of-all trades and a master of them all. Of course, he was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and especially loved baseball.
Predeceased by his wife, Viola Finnicum-Debes, his parents, Alma A. (Snyder) and Edward J. Debes, and his siblings, Caroline, Francis, Edward, Amelia, Edna, and Alma Mae.
Survived by his children, Joseph D. Debes (Allyson), Douglas Debes (Pam), Karen Stevenson (Jim), Sandy Mayo (Michael), and David Debes (Sandra), his seven grandchildren, Joseph, Gregory, Douglas, Caitlin, Nina, Carley, and Tyler, and his 11 great-grandchildren.
Relatives & friends are invited to his Viewing Thursday, October 30th 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM followed by his Funeral Service 11:00 AM in the Main Chapel at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Inurnment Private.
