Joseph Russell Foster, 60 years of age, passed away September 16, 2022 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born on November 24th, 1961 to John and Joan Foster (both of whom are deceased). He was their 6th child out of 8. Joe was the loving father of Jennifer (Dennis Czerw) and wonderful grandfather to Chase, Quinn and Harper. Joe was the devoted partner to Beth Ann Andrews. He is also survived by two older sisters Jane (Oscar) Gumbao and June Sanson as well as two younger brothers Gary (Michelle) and Thomas. Predeceased by Joanne, John (Chris) and Janet Foster. He also enjoyed spending time with his extended family Lia, Rebecca, Marisa, Victoria, Charles Andrews and Jackson and Emmett Young.Joe grew up in Kensington and graduated from Frankford High School. He then moved to Port Richmond and later Wilmington, DE and was presently residing in Garnet Valley.

Joe worked at the United States Mint for over 38 years. In his spare time he enjoyed photography, gardening, long walks at Longwood Gardens, traveling and spending quality time with friends and family, especially his grandkids.Joe was a personable down to earth guy who enjoyed a good beer with his friends and chatting with his neighbors. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Never one to take life too seriously, he enjoyed making others laugh with his humor and quick wit. He and Beth were looking forward to retirement and traveling.His friends and family are invited to share happy memories and celebrate Joe’s life in the way he would of wanted to be remembered – as a loving and caring man who enjoyed life.A celebration of life will follow in the coming weeks. What is your only comfort in life and death that with body and soul am not my own but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ who's so preserve me dad with my Father in heaven not one hair on my head yet with all these things work together for my salvation amen

I once cost Joe $500. The story goes like this… One day I told Joe I was going to get tacos for lunch. We placed our order and waited…and waited. I called the place. They told me the order was ready but they could no longer deliver it because their driver left for the day. We never got the tacos. On his way home his craving was too great and he stopped at a Taco Bell only to be t-boned waiting to get in the parking lot. The next day he came in and told me I cost him $500 for tacos he still hadn’t eaten. Miss you buddy.

My prayers go out to Joe's family. I was a coworker at the Mint with Joe. He always made the day better. He would help you anytime you needed it and it was great to talk with him about work and life. He sold me his motorcycle. I will cherish it always and think of him often at work and while riding down the open road. I will miss him. God Bless you Joe and Rest in Peace. Terence Turner
