Karen Marie Lacher (nee Brockman) passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026 at her home in Malvern, PA. Karen was born on October 3, 1939 in Columbus, OH to the late Randal and Evelyn (nee O’Neal) Brockman.
Karen was predeceased by her husband, Myron Bernard Lacher. She is survived by her 3 sons – Steven, David (Kristin), and Robert (Kim), 4 grandchildren – Aaron, Grace, Ava and Griffin and 2 sisters – Judith Lynn Brown and Patricia Lou Brown, both of San Clemente, CA.
Karen attended The Ohio State University where she graduated with a degree in Education. She was a junior high school teacher when she met and then married Myron. They raised their 3 sons in Columbus, OH. She became a tax preparer at H&R Block which inspired her to go back to school to earn her CPA and she practiced as a CPA for many years, continuing to do taxes privately in her retirement. Eventually she and Mike relocated to Paoli, PA where they were active in the Main Line Unitarian Church and hosted lively salons in their home with their friends discussing and debating the topics of the day. She and Mike also spent many days taking care of Aaron and Grace while Dave and Kristin worked. She enjoyed trips to California to visit her sisters and to spend time with Rob, Kim, Ava and Griffin. She also enjoyed traveling with Mike and they came back from trips to places like Alaska and the Galapagos Islands with many stories and photos to share.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family thanks the staffs at Echo Lake and Keystone Hospice for the care and comfort they provided Karen over the years and in her final days.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Karen’s memory to the Barry A. Pfaff Lewy Body Dementia Research Fund which supports medical research and related activities of Lewy Body Dementia, Alzheimer’s and other dementias within the Department of Neurology and/or Center for Cognitive and Memory Disorders at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
