Kathleen Ann News nee McGrady

Kathleen (née McGrady) News 66, of Middletown Twp, PA passed away on Saturday, Nov 11, 2023.
She was the daughter of the late Harry T. and Doris (née Peifer) McGrady. In addition to her parents Kathy was predeceased by her dear brother, Tom McGrady.
The youngest of four children, she was raised in Ridley Park and graduated from Ridley High School, class of 1975.

Kathy was a devoted mother to Malinda News (Dimitri Sokolik) and Ryan News (Nicole Ziegler). Also surviving are her loving sisters, Terry (McGrady) Lytle (Charley) and Lynne (McGrady) Feldmayer (Jack).  

Kathy’s granddaughters, Amelia and Lucia Sokolik, were the light of her life.  They enjoyed swimming, going out to eat, playing with her dog Cooper, and getting their nails done.  She spent hours at competitions and performances watching them dance.

Kathy also will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.


Kathy began her career at Delaware Investment Advisors (fka Delaware Cash Reserve) where she was a portfolio manager for money market funds. In 1987 she co-founded Penn Capital Management where she managed high yield portfolios. She retired from KDP Asset Management where she served as a Senior Portfolio Manager. Kathy enjoyed sharing her knowledge with her peers and clients and was highly respected by all who had the pleasure to work with her.  

In her free time Kathy could be found anywhere she had family, most likely camping, at the shore, or in Florida.
She was an avid sports fan; she never missed an Eagles or Phillies game.

Friends and family are invited to her memorial on Friday, Nov. 17 at D’Anjolell Barone funeral home at 908 S Providence Rd. in Wallingford at 11:00am.  Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45.
