Kevin French

Kevin French, of Pompano Beach, Florida, and formerly of Southwest Philadelphia, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the age of 70, following a brief battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on April 12, 1956.

Kevin graduated from West Catholic High School in 1975 and was a member of St. Barnabas Parish. He was simply the best, a kind and caring person who made everyone feel special.

Raised in Southwest Philadelphia, Kevin developed a lifelong love for Philadelphia sports. A short time after graduation, he moved to Florida, where he began working at The Parrot Lounge and, at times, the Bahia Cabana. Kevin had a remarkable gift for remembering people, including exactly how they liked their drink, and he made friends and strangers alike feel instantly at home. He embraced the Florida lifestyle and found joy in staying active. An avid athlete, Kevin enjoyed running marathons and triathlons, kayaking, tennis, swimming, and spending as much time as possible outdoors in the sunshine.

Kevin loved the beach and the ocean, but some of his most cherished moments were spent alongside the canal with family and friends. He and his wife lovingly called it their “slice of heaven,” where Kevin could often be found relaxing with a glass of wine and a cigar in hand. He also deeply loved his cats, who brought him great comfort and companionship.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Alfred French; his sister, Joanne; his brother, James; his nephew, Ryan; and his beloved cats, Marathon and Oreo.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta “Lorrie” Alice (Lewis); his cats, Smitty and Caspar; and his siblings, John (Jean), Mickey, Dennis (Linda), Barbara (Tosh), Patrick (Maureen), Brian (Cathy), and Paul (Mary), as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Kevin’s celebration of life on Saturday Oct. 10^th 10:00 -11:45am at St. Barnabas Church 63^rd & Buist Ave SW Phila. Funeral mass will be at 12 Noon. Celebrant for mass will be Fr. Eric Bannecker.  Interment will be private
