Lucy Gloria “Dolly” Ambrosine (nee Roberto), age 91, passed away peacefully on September 10th, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on February 5, 1933 in Philadelphia to the late Silvio and Clara Roberto. She grew up in Philadelphia, PA and raised her family in Upper Darby, PA.
Dolly married the love of her life, the late Louis J. Ambrosine. She was an incredible mother to her 4 sons: Louis (Rita) Ambrosine, Anthony (Rose) Ambrosine, John (MaryAnn) Ambrosine, and the late Joseph Ambrosine. She was a devoted grandmother to her 7 grandchildren: Rosemarie (Greg), Louis (Arlene), Anthony (Lauren), Matthew (Colleen), Nicholas, Brenda (Joseph), and Tara (John). She is also survived by her 17 great-grandchildren.
Dolly was a devoted wife, mother and (great) grandmother who fiercely protected her loved ones. She had the most contagious laugh. The delicious aromas of Ma’s homemade Italian meatballs and gravy filled the home every Sunday. During the Christmas season she loved to bake countless tins of cookies, decorate her house to the nines, wear festive clothes and jewelry, and sing “Jingle Bells” all year long. She absolutely adored children, dedicating many years as a teaching assistant at Highland Park School, and became known as “Nanny” to so many more people in her life than just her family. Dolly was never one to hold back how she felt, yet she was loved and cherished by everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Tuesday, September 17th 8:00 AM – 9:45 AM at the DAnjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St Laurence Catholic Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082.
