I first met Luna at the Defender Association of Philadelphia. I worked in the Child Advocacy Unit as a newly admitted attorney, fresh out of law school. I had questions regarding mental health procedures and approaches, as they often impacted my clients placed in foster care. Luna was open, knowledgeable, kind, and generous with her time; I would never have guessed she was the busy chief of that unit.
When I came out to Montgomery County, I was delighted to see her. We spent some time chatting about our work in Philadelphia, the good that came with moving out to the county, and enjoying the work we did. I felt lucky to get to work with such an ardent champion of those in need and learn from her.
To her family who may see this, may her memory be a blessing and please have no doubts that her loss is felt across the community. My heart goes out to you, and I am so sorry for your loss.
