Marie L. Scotese

Marie Letizia Scotese (née Schiavo), 94, of Downingtown, PA, passed away peacefully of natural causes Sunday morning, December 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Survived by her daughters, Linda M., Deborah A. (Thomas) Alberici; twin grandchildren, Thomas A. Alberici, Deborah M. Alberici; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by former spouse Anthony; father Alfonso, mother Teresina; brother, Alfonso, Jr.; sisters, Rose (Feliciani), Rita (Mascaro).

Born and raised in an Italian neighborhood in South Philadelphia, Marie spoke fluent Italian. She attended Edward W. Bok High School. After working in the textile industry, she married Anthony in 1950 and became a homemaker. Marie soon moved with her family to Upper Darby, PA, where she resided for 44 years. During this time, she worked in the retail industry for Lerner Shoppes and was employed for 25 years, excelled at her job, and quickly became a customer favorite. Marie fairly represented her coworkers as the Retail Clerks Union Steward for many years. After retiring in 1994, she moved to Downingtown, PA, where she continued to enjoy life.

Marie was a beautiful woman of great faith, honor, integrity, strong will, quiet strength, and compassion who loved her family deeply and selflessly. Her interests included cooking, baking, cleaning, reading, watching soap operas, politics, fashion, jewelry, music, dancing, and having fun with family and many friends. She took great pride in her home, and always took pleasure in sharing meals and cooking for those she loved. Later in life, she became an avid Philadelphia Sports fan. Everyone recognized her infectious laugh and humor. Marie was always full of life and maintained a positive outlook, which helped her overcome any obstacle.

Marie will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Wednesday Evening 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at The D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Frazer 392 E. Lancaster Ave., Frazer PA 19355 and Thursday Morning Dec. 28th 9:00 a.m – 10:15 a.m. at The D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Frazer 392 E. Lancaster Ave., Frazer PA 19355 followed by her Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church 338 Manor Ave. Downingtown, PA 19335.
Interment Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
