Whitfield
Marilyn (Meryl) Whitfield of Trainer, PA passed away on August 29,2022 at the age of 82.
Meryl was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she also resided in The Bronx, New York prior to making her final home in the Chester and Trainer area of Delaware County, PA.
Wife of the late George Whitfield, daughter of the late Manuel & Virginia Souza, sister of the late Sonny, Anne, and Estelle.
Survivors: Loving mother of Marilyn (Joseph) Kurman, Garnet Valley, PA. Roxanne (Jim) Lewis, Monroe, WI. George (Kathy) Whitfield, Glenolden, PA. Meryl has 6 cherished grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Meryl is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their families. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Gizmo who will be cared for by Marilyn, Joe and Olivia.
Meryl was talented with crocheting, enjoyed painting ceramics, and in her younger years loved bowling with George in the Saturday night leagues.
Meryl worked as a medical receptionist at ACG since 1998 when the office was established, and just recently was unable to continue to work full-time. In the eyes of Meryl’s co-worker’s, she was family more than a co-worker, and she felt the same of them. The family would like to thank them for all their friendship and kindness given to Meryl over the years.
Prior to beginning her tenure with ACG, Meryl was a stay-at-home mom, volunteering at the kids’ school in the lunchroom, and then took a position with Sacred Heart Hospital as a medical receptionist.
Meryl was quick witted, and her laugh was contagious, her smile, those blue eyes and platinum hair would light up the room. She touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed not only by her family but by all that had the pleasure to know her.
