Sister Mary Agnes, aka Sister Frederick Mary, RSM, 62, of the Sisters of Mercy, Merion, PA, died on July 5, 2005.
In addition to her religious family, Sister Mary Agnes is survived by her brother, Fred and cousin, Janice Warner. In 1963 Sister Mary Agnes professed vows as a Sister of Mercy. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Gwynedd-Mercy College, and a M.Ed. in Urban Education from Temple University.
Sister Mary Agnes taught elementary school from 1963 to 1971 at Holy Martyrs School, Oreland, St. Matthias School, Bala Cynwyd, Holy Cross School, Springfield, Annunciation BVM, Havertown and Maternity BVM, Phila. From 1971 to 9172, Sister Mary Agnes taught Grade 7 at St. Alice School, Springfield, PA. In 1972, Sister returned to St. Malachy School and in 1976, moved on to St. Barbara School/Corpus Christi Parish, where she taught Grade 7 and was Inter-Parochial Youth Minister. From 1978 to 1983, Sister Mary Agnes was Inter-Parochial Youth Minister/Parish Assistant at Mercy Vocational High School/Corpus Christi Parish and then was a member of the Support Staff until 1988. In 1988 until 1993, Sister was Parish Social Minister/Boarding Home minister at Our Lady of the Holy Souls.
Sister Mary Agnes became Director of Boarding Home Ministry, North Philadelphia in 1993 and ministered there until 2001. Sister was Asst. Director-Mercy Hospitality Center at Mercy Neighborhood Ministeries from 2001 to 2002 and then joined the Support Staff in 2003 at McAuley Convent and Mercy Health System where she worked in the Benefits Office.
