Mary Ann Giordano

Sister Mary Ann Giordano, age 81, a member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas died peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at McAuley Convent in Merion, Pennsylvania.

Mary Ann began her ministry in elementary education, teaching in schools in the Philadelphia Archdiocese.  Her own education at Loyola in Maryland prepared her for her ministry in counseling and pastoral work. For several years she taught as part of the retreat staff at the Bon Secours Spiritual Center in Marriottsville where besides her role as spiritual director she taught classes on the enneagram. Devoted to God’s people especially those in need of a healing touch, Mary Ann ministered to fragile and needy populations as a group counselor and spiritual director in Maryland.

Mary Ann was a talented and creative woman.  She had a beautiful voice and shared her musical talents at Walsingham Academy and in her pastoral work in parishes.

Mary Ann was a woman of deep faith, in love with her God.  She cared for her mother until she died while simultaneously pursuing further education. She will be missed by her community, her nieces and nephews and especially by her long time dear friend Lori.
