Mary (nee DeVito), age 102, of Bryn Mawr, formerly of Collingdale, PA, died peacefully on February 26, 2023. Beloved daughter of the late Anna (nee Amato) and Michael DeVito. Mary was the loving wife of 66 years to the late Albert Montefusco. She was preceded in death by her brothers Anthony, Joseph, George and Michael as well as her sister, Marguerite. Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Denise DiFrancesco (Ben), three adoring grandchildren, Ben (Melissa), Jaclyn Dunford (Terrence), MaryBeth Pijanowski (Jack), as well as four great-grandchildren, Ben, Anna and Max DiFrancesco and Dominic Dunford. She is also survived by her brother, Albert, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a graduate of Collingdale High School and after graduation, began working as a Junior Stenographer for the Marine Corps. She then worked for many years as a secretary for the Philadelphia Electric Company and later for the School District of Philadelphia at Bartram High School. Together with her husband, Albert, they owned and operated summer businesses at the Jersey Shore – The Hitching Post Restaurant in North Wildwood and the Sandpiper Motel on Long Beach Island.
Mary was devoted to her family and loved cooking and hosting many family get-togethers, her favorite being the traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes Christmas Eve dinner. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren at the Shore and cherished watching her great-grandchildren grow.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service on Saturday, March 11th at St. Anastasia Church in Newtown Square. Visitation 10:30 am-11:15am followed by a Mass at 11:30 am. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
