Michael “Mike” Marziano of Havertown, PA, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025 at age 93. He will be remembered for his strength and dedication to his family.
Mike was born on March 7, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Overbrook High School and continued his education at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology. Mike was a veteran and proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952 –1954 attaining the rank of Sergeant. Following his service, Mike worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Shop 51 as an electrician, working on battleships, aircraft carriers and submarines. He worked his way to be the Director of the NAVSEA Shipbuilding Support Office (NAVSHIPSO) in Philadelphia, where he retired in 1997. After retirement, he taught Residential Wiring at Delaware County Community College. He took great care in mentoring his students and was fully engaged in their learning, getting great satisfaction as they progressed in their journeys to become Master Electricians.
Mike was a passionate gardener who took great pride in maintaining his yard. He enjoyed seeing the results of his hard work over the years. He was especially known for his tomato plants which produced the best tomatoes you could find. Every year, friends and family benefited by receiving bags and bags of tomatoes.
Predeceased by his daughter, Maria Jean, his parents, Maria (nee DiBenedetto) and Guerino Marziano, his brothers Sabbatino, Benedetto, Joseph and Anthony and his sisters Frances Carrea and Rita Marshall.
Survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Jeanette (née Healy) Marziano, his devoted daughters, Lisa Fonseca (Luis) and Michele Marziano (George Gibbons); his three loving grandchildren, Gina (née Crowley) Knox (the late Duane), Andrew Sickel (Vanessa) and Alessandra Fanelli; and his four precious great-grandchildren, Elijah, Xavier, Sebastian and Camilla. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Cipolla.
Relatives & friends are invited to his Viewing on Friday, July 11 at 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. All services are at Sacred Heart Church Manoa, 105 Wilson Ave. Havertown, PA 19083. Interment at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
