Michael S. Kalichak, Jr. of Delaware County passed away on September 23, 2024.
Born in Chester, Pa. on December 27, 1947, and raised in Chester until July 1983. Educated at St. Robert’s Grade School and St. James High School for Boys, Chester, Pa. He attended Widener College, Chester, Pa. and Villanova Law School, Villanova, Pa. He served with the U.S. Navy from 10/70 to 10/72, He did 2 overseas deployments 6/71 to 12/71 and 2/72 to 4/72. Michael was a member Delaware County Chapter 67, Vietnam Veterans of America, American Legion Post 546 and he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. A member of Our Lady of Charity Catholic Church in Brookhaven, Pa. since July 1983, prior to that he was a member of St. Robert’s Catholic Church in Chester, Pa.
He worked at Scott Paper Company in the summers from 1966 to 1969, 1973 to 1974. Veterans Administration in Philadelphia’s Main Office from February 1976 to September 1982, Social Security Administration, Office of Hearings and Appeals in Philadelphia, Pa. from September 1982 to September 1999 and a part time tour guide at Fort Mifflin Historic Site in Philadelphia, Pa. from February 2001 to May 2024.
Son of the late Michael Sr. & Wanda (nee Majdzinski) Kalichak
He is survived by various cousins living in Upland, Brookhaven, Chadds Ford and West Chester, Pa. His lifelong companion Barbara Peterman and his lifelong friend Andrew Slowik
Relatives & Friends are invited to his viewing Tues. 9 to 10:15 am at the Danjolell – Stigale Memorial Home 3260 Concord Rd. Aston. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Charity Catholic Church 231 Upland Road Brookhaven at 11 am. Interment with honors will be at Lawn Croft Cemetery.
