Michael Yarris “Mike aka Poppy”, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 19, 2023. Born and raised in the Meadows of SW Philadelphia.
Mike’s greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family – his favorite saying “I may not have much but I have a beautiful family”! He was generous to a fault, never expecting anything in return. He had the heart of a lion and was strong as a bull.” Extremely witty, always making you laugh not knowing what he was going to say. Willing to tell you exactly how he felt without holding back. He loved fiercely.
Poppy was a devoted husband to the late Harriet “Jayne” Yarris who was the love of his life and father of the late Martin Yarris, Michael “Hoover” Yarris, and brother of the late Al, Harry, John, Nick, and Ann.
Loving father of Nettie (Joseph) Salvato, Anna Marie (Michael) Martin, Sissy (Edward) Whalen, and Nicholas Yarris. Also survived by his cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great granddaughter.
Brother of Helen MacDonald, sister in-law Barbara Yarris and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral on Thursday May 25 from 9:30-10:45 am at the Danjolell – Stigale Memorial Home 3260 Concord Road Aston. Funeral service will be held at 11 am in our main chapel. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
