Nancy M. Hudome (née Maginn), lovingly known as “Mom” and “Nanny,” passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at the age of 97, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Philadelphia in 1928, Nancy spent most of her life in Lawrence Park and later resided with her loving community at Wesley in Media. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph J. Hudome Jr., and her cherished sister, Jean Cresta.
Nancy is survived by her devoted daughters, Jodi Holsten (John Holsten) and Carol Dow (Matt Diedrich); her beloved grandchildren, Erik Holsten (Duc Dinh), Kyle Holsten (Alejandra Fonte), and Samantha Dow (Justin Rossi). Being “Nanny” was the role she treasured most, and her grandchildren were truly the light of her life.
Nancy had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome, heard, and cared for. She was kind, compassionate, quick-witted, and a friend to all. She listened with an open heart, stood up for the underdog, and was a true force for change. Long before it was widely accepted, Nancy proudly championed equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community, believing deeply in fairness, kindness, and that everyone deserved to be treated with dignity, respect, and love. She inspired others through her progressive spirit, generous heart, and unwavering commitment to helping people and making the world a better place.
She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall. Following the Celebration of Life, all are warmly invited for refreshments and spirits at the Holsten family home—Nancy’s favorite place—to continue sharing memories and celebrating her life. Details will be provided on the day of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Nancy’s memory.
