Nancy M. Ruggeri

Nancy M. Ruggeri nee Mitidieri, age 92, of Havertown, PA, passed away Saturday, December 6th, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Eugene Ruggeri, with whom she share 67 years of marriage.

Born on April 13th, 1916 in Hammonton, NJ, she was one of eight children born to the late Nicola Mitidieri and Anna Maria Pugliese.

Nancy was raised on a small farm. Though her early life ambition was to finish school and find a job in the city, her childhood years were spent doing traditional farm work and house chores. Her dream of city life finally became reality when marriage brought her to the Philadelphia area. She spent many years employed as a seamstress; first in a rain coat factory, then later, making clothes for children’s dolls. Before her retirement, Nancy worked in retail sales, securing employment with a few of the stores in her local mall. Though being a career girl was something she aspired to and attained, her family would say that her greatest accomplishment was that of providing a nurturing environment for those she loved. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, and an excellent homemaker. In her later years, Nancy was an active member of her church community, attending social functions and praying for the sick. She believed in honesty, self-respect, compassion for others, and always giving the benefit of doubt when needed. She was never heard to say an unkind word about anyone.

Nancy is survived by one daughter, Joyce Colin of Downingtown, PA and on granddaughter, Nancy D’Angelo of Allentown, PA.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 AM on Thursday, Dec. 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Havertown, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM.
Interment will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Sproul Road, Springfield, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 105 Wilson Ave., Havertown, PA 19083 or the Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit, 400 East Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19380.
