Nina Cavaliere, age 93, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born and raised on Pearl Street, West Philadelphia, Nina was one of seven children in a lively and close-knit household. She later settled in Delaware County, where she built a warm and loving home with her husband and raised their two children.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carlo Cavaliere, her parents, Maria (nee DiBiase) and Fiore Abbonizio; her sisters Josephine DiBernardo, Genevieve DiSciullo, Jean Randazzo, and Amelia Abbonizio, as well as her brother Louis Abbonizio.
Nina is survived by her loving sister Florence Abbonizio. Her caring children John Cavaliere (Beth Cavaliere) and Maria Steuber (Timothy Steuber). She was a proud grandmother to John, Daniel, and Allison, and in recent years, she found great joy in her role as a great-grandmother to Vincent and Carlo; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Nina was a devoted mother and grandmother who found great joy in the company of her family. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by the people she cared about and she made sure everyone knew it. Nina loved to talk. She had a bold, lively personality and a natural talent for storytelling. Whether reminiscing about her childhood, sharing family history, or chatting with someone new, she always had something to share.
Nina had a sharp mind, a strong will, and a bold personality that filled every room she entered. She lived on her own terms; never shy about saying what she thought, and always staying true to who she was.
She was also an exceptional cook. Her meals were the heart of every gathering, and her kitchen was a place where tradition and flavor came together.
One of Nina’s greatest passions was going to the casino; it was her happy place. She knew her way around a casino and was always ready to teach anyone a card game or two. Whether she was playing for fun or for luck, she brought the same confidence and spark to the table that she carried throughout her life.
Her absence leaves a deep void, but Nina was a woman of deep love and enduring strength.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Wednesday, July 9, 10:00 AM-10:45 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM; all in church at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church, 233 Mohawk Ave, Norwood, PA 19074. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
