Peter Joseph, age 97, on April 18, 2025, of Drexel Hill, PA.

Peter was a 47-year resident of Drexel Hill and an active member of St. Bernadette of Lourdes parish. He was also a member of the parish Men’s Prayer Group and especially cherished those faith-based friendships.

Peter’s South Philly roots culminated in his 1946 graduation from Bok Vocational High School, where he was the President of his Senior class. Peter went on to serve in the US Army during World War II. It was towards the end of the war he met his future wife, Isabel.

He and Isabel married in 1948 and settled down in Lansdowne, PA to raise their family. Peter was an enthusiastic member of the St. Philomena Men’s Choir and a devoted church cantor for many years.

Peter excelled at many tasks, including selling electronics equipment in the fledgling post-war years of the forties, quality control inspector for electrical transmission equipment, and even banking. He worked both in the union shop (15 years), and management (5 years) at General Electric’s Elmwood Switchgear plant in Philadelphia and was President of the General Electric Employees Credit Union there. In the ensuing 15 years, Peter was employed as a Quality Control Field Inspector for the Franklin Mint, in Aston, Pennsylvania, and finished his career as an Inspector in the Quality Control Department of SPS Technologies, Jenkintown, PA.

In his retirement years, Peter offered his varied handyman trade and locksmith skills in the Delaware County area. Peter also enjoyed watching the Phillies and Flyers, spending time at the Jersey shore as well as visiting family in Italy/Sicily and Hawaii.

Peter loved life, a glass of red wine, his wife’s cooking, especially Italian cuisine, and always quipped that he could eat pasta every day. A devout Catholic he was fondly given the title “Alleluia Pete” singing from the front row at St. Bernadette of Lourdes’ weekly Mass

He savored his role as Pop Pop to his grandchildren and as Pop Pop the Great to his great-grandchildren.

Peter is predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Isabel (nee Labate) Mina, his grandchild, Kekai Mina, his parents, Antoinette (nee Sottile) and Joseph P. Mina, and his siblings, Vito (Mary) and Lee Cerrone (John).

Survived by his children, Linda Ann, Joseph, Vincent (Irene), and Diane Weltman (Steve), his five grandchildren, Beth (Aaron), Catie (Kevin), Alison, Erica, and Kahanulani, and his four great-grandchildren, Logan, Carissa, and Cassidy (Dodge), and Kailani (Mina).

Relatives & friends are invited to his Visitation Monday, May 5th 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM ALL IN CHURCH at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Catholic Church 1035 Turner Ave, Drexel Hill, PA 19026.  Inurnment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
