Rev. Girard J. (M.A., M.Ed), age 91, on July 8, 2024, of Flourtown, PA.

Fr. Girard “Jerry” Cusatis was ordained on May 18, 1963, by Archbishop John Krol. His pastoral assignments included: Assistant Pastor, Assumption B.V.M., Feasterville (June 1963 – 1965), and Assistant Pastor, St. Lucy, Philadelphia (June 1965 – 1966). In June 1966, Fr. Cusatis was assigned to the Faculty of Cardinal O’Hara High School, Springfield, where he served 29 years until June 1995. He was appointed the Parochial Vicar at St. Andrew in Drexel Hill in June 1995 until his retirement in June of 2008. During the summer (June – Sept.) 1966, Fr. Cusatis served as Assistant Pastor at St. Alphonsus, Maple Glen, and in addition to his teaching duties at Cardinal O’Hara High School served as Chaplain at St. Elmond’s Home, Rosemont (February 1972 – Sept. 1979)

Predeceased by his parents, Rose (nee Parsonese), and Anthony Cusatis, and his siblings.

Survived by loving friends.

Reception of his body at St. Andrew Church will take place on Thursday, July 11^th at 9:15 AM followed by public Visitation until 10:15 AM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Bishop John J. McIntyre beginning at 10:30 AM at St. Andrew the Apostle 3500 School Ln, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.

One of the good guys. Hands down my best teacher ever. The day he called me a 'retched woman' and smiled - great day! I was pleased to work along with him at St. Andrew. My children happy to serve his masses.

Fond memories of Father walking around O'Hara measuring the length of our skirts and don't let him catch you with gum. You would be wearing it on your nose. Lol rest easy Father. Thanks for the memories.

An engaging intellect coupled with a true devotion to teaching made every class Fr. Cusatis taught an absolutely wonderful journey into the English language. Such a wonderful priest and man. ❤️

I remember Fr. Cusatis as being very well liked by us O'Hara kids. A kind man who took time with those of us who needed a little more help. He certainly made an impact and will be remembered fondly. My condolences to his family.

I will always remember Fr. Cusatis’ desire for everyone to work hard and stretch limits. “Rattle your paper clips” to send him off through the pearly gates!

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Fr. Cusatis is my favorite teacher of all time and a wonderful man. I wish we had video of him in action at the front of English class.

I remember Fr. Cusatis from my days at O'hara (1978). He was always a kind soul and an excellent teacher.

We are grateful for the many years of priestly ministry that Fr. Cusatis gave to the O'Hara Family as teacher. He is well remembered, especially amongst our alumni who had him in class! Father Cusatis was one of the two priests who oversaw operations at the paperback library of Cardinal O'Hara High School in the mid-1970s. During that time, he showed concern for yours truly while affectionately calling me "Wretched Gregory." I wish I had showed my appreciation for his concern before his passing. May God welcome him into His heavenly kingdom.
