Ricardo Galinta

In Loving Memory of Rick Galinta, affectionately known as “POP.”

We are deeply saddened and filled with gratitude for the life well-lived of Rick, who peacefully reunited with his wife on June 19, 2026, at the age of 97.

Born in Ilocos Sur on July 27, sometime in the 1920s, Rick was a remarkable man  who led a life of resilience, determination, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family. Each day, he counted his blessings , finding joy in both life’s grand adventures and the simple pleasures that filled his heart.

Known for his quick wit and infectious humor, Rick possessed a unique gift for making others smile. Even in his final days, he continued to share laughter and lighthearted moments, bringing comfort and joy to his family.

In 1975, Ricardo embarked on a journey to the United States in pursuit of the American dream. Driven by a passion for education and service, he joined the Royer Greaves School for the Blind as a teacher. His dedication to helping students learn, grow, and reach their full potential was a testament to his deep belief in the value and dignity of every individual. Through his patience, compassion, and guidance, he touched countless lives.

A passionate runner, Rick believed in the power of keeping both body and spirit active. Running was more than a hobby; it embodied the determination and perseverance that defined his life. Whether he was training, competing, or simply enjoying the freedom of the road, he approached each mile with the same strength and optimism he brought to life.

Rick also found immense happiness in gardening. He tended to flowers, topiary creations, and vegetables with meticulous care, finding peace in nurturing life and witnessing its flourishing.

Pop was also a poet. He composed over 100 poems, many of them were published. His poems reflect his humor and faith. He won an Editor’s Choice Award through the International Library of Poetry.

Above all, Rick cherished his family. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, his wisdom, humor, strength, and unconditional love shaped generations. Family brought him immense joy. He imparted valuable lessons about hard work, perseverance, and appreciating life’s everyday blessings to those around him. His playful spirit and ability to find humor in any situation created cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

Though our hearts are shattered by his passing, we find solace in knowing that his suffering has ended and that he is at peace.

Pop will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, extended family, friends, former students, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we celebrate his remarkable life, we remember a man who embarked on a journey across oceans in search of opportunity, dedicated himself to teaching and service, ran with unwavering determination, tended to his garden with care, loved his family wholeheartedly, filled hearts with laughter, and lived each day with gratitude. We love you, pop.

Predeceased by his wife, Serafia (nee Saguinsin) Galinta, and his parents, Benigna (nee Aguinaldo) and Mariano Galinta.

Survived by his children, Rocky, Jerry (Tracy Chase), Jane Galinta Hallstead (Dr. Geoffry Hallstead) and Maria Lina, his grandchildren, Ricardo and Dr. Serica Hallstead, US Army Captain, Rocky Christopher and great granddaughter Kassey and his sibling Magdalena Gumangi.

Relatives & friends are invited to his Visitation, Saturday, June 27^th, 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM followed by A Celebration of Life 12 NOON at the DAnjolell Memorial Home of Frazer, 392 Lancaster Ave., Frazer, PA 19355. Entombment Saints Peter and Paul Masoulem.
