Russell R. Naylor, age 84 of Malvern, PA, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, following a brave battle with cancer. Russell was the loving husband of Suzanne (née Collins) and devoted father of Elizabeth, Christopher (Aimee), Matthew (Heather), and William (Gina). Known by his family as “Poppi,” he is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Zack, Mary, Courtney, Ana, Isabelle, Brody, Lindsey, Liam, Gabe, Cate, and Christopher.
A self-declared “country boy,” Russell grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with his siblings, Norman “Bud” Naylor, Charles Naylor III, and Joyce Cifelli. Russell then headed to Penn State for college to play varsity soccer. It was there that he met and fell head over heels for Suzanne at a dance, where she asked him for the first dance. They immediately became inseparable and were married after graduating. It is well known that they were rarely apart from one another throughout their 63 years together. A devoted husband, he has spent the recent years caring for his wife in steadfast love.
As a family man, Russell lived his life to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Many memories were made together with them at his beloved Aquetong farm in Chester County and homes in Naples, Florida, and Stone Harbor, New Jersey. The two things he loved to do most were golfing and fly fishing with his sons. Whether golfing, skiing, fishing, or taking rides in his boat, enjoying a glass of wine, traveling, or just watching soccer on tv, Russell was happiest doing it all alongside his family.
Russell led his life showing kindness and fairness to everyone he encountered. He will be remembered for his generosity most of all. Giving to and helping others in both business and his personal life were important to him. He was a mentor and leader in the insurance business community for over 60 years. He was also active in the community at large, making friends wherever he went. Although a “man of few words,” his presence was larger than life.
A true patriot, Russell loved the USA and served in the Army Reserves. He was a member of many business groups and philanthropic endeavors, as well as a member of Stonewall, Applebrook, and Calusa Pines Golf Clubs. Russell also was involved in the Philadelphia soccer community, Providence Soccer, the Philadelphia Freedom, and FC Delco. All of us who knew Russell will miss him dearly, but as a man of great faith we know he is with his savior Jesus Christ in heaven and in our lives through his living spirit as we carry on, honoring his memory.
Memorial Services will take place at Paoli Presbyterian Church in Paoli, Pennsylvania, on April 11, 2025, at 11:30 am.
