Salvatore Longo

Salvatore Longo, 89, of Leavenworth, KS, formerly of Springfield, PA died on November 26, 2008 at Kansas City Hospice House, in Kansas City, MO.

Born in Philadelphia, on November 24, 1919, Mr. Longo was a WWII veteran, serving in all 3 theaters of operation. He was the owner and operator of Sal’s Lamps in Collingdale, PA until his retirement in 1995. He is the husband of the late Thelma Longo nee Baglivo and the brother of Nick Longo Gerry, Rita Scarpato Sonny and Carmella Levato. His sister and brother, Frank and Jennie Longo, and brother-in-law, Anthony Levato, preceded him in death.

A longtime Delaware County resident, Mr. Longo moved to Kansas City in July to reside with his granddaughter and her husband, who is currently stationed with the Army at Fort Leavenworth. He enjoyed spending time playing with his great-grandchild and cooking for his family.

Mr. Longo was the son of the late Frank and Concetta Longo.

He is survived by his step-children; William DeFeo, Jr. of Macungie, Diane Sangillo Richard of Springfield and Deborah DiPalma Frank of Athens, GA; his daughter-in-law, Patricia O’Brien of Allentown; his grandchildren, Tiffany Kearney Joe, Victoria Martin Todd, Janine Graff Michael, Richard Sangillo Krystal, Matthew DiPalma Patty, Nicole DeFeo, Andrew DiPalma, Heather DeFeo, Francesca DiPalma and Frank DiPalma, Jr. and his great-grandchildren, Isabelle Martin, Alexandra Kearney, Annalise Kearney, Lucas Martin, Jackson Graff and Reagen Kearney.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to Kansas City Hospice House, 1200 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
